KUNAI

After two years of hard work we were able to finally launch it in early 2020: the new game KUNAI from our venture TurtleBlaze. What once started as a mobile prototype has become a fully-fledged premium game for Nintendo Switch and Steam. In the fast-paced, idiosyncratic metroidvania, a sympathetic tablet called Tabby fights a robot rebellion. By using ninja tricks and weapons, Tabby traverses a world full of secrets, hidden passages and mysterious characters.

In KUNAI, players can discover special skills, weapons and ninja tricks as they traverse a world full of killing enemy robots. The name of the game is based on the Japanese weapon of the same name that is often associated with ninjas who used it to dig holes in walls. By attaching a rope to the ring, the ninja could easily climb walls or trees. Like so, KUNAI is all about movement and agility. Players use their ninja mobility to reach places where no normal robot could ever go.

For the release of KUNAI, our game studio entered into a partnership with The Arcade Crew. This French boutique publisher, part of Dotemu, focuses on producing and publishing games with a retro atmosphere, created by small creative teams.
