Fabric Recognizer
An app that can recognize fabrics thanks to machine learning.
Vlisco has created thousands of gorgeous fabrics throughout the years. But if a customers comes back with a piece of clothing, asking for more of that fabric, how can you tell which one it is? Some people at Vlisco, who have been with the company for a long time, are able to tell most all of them apart — but now they are retiring, creating a problem.
Together with Vlisco we've built a fabric recognizer. Just take a picture of piece of clothing, and the recognizer finds the most likely fabrics used. The app uses pattern detection machine learning algorithms to whittle a huge database of fabrics down to a manageable number. The results thusfar: almost all photos tested yield the correct fabric within the top 10 of results.
